Commission Terms

This is a shortened version of terms specific to art commissions. For more details and clarity, please be guided by the full Terms and Conditions.

Pocket and postcard-size pet portraits are standard commission options available directly through the FMurphy Art Studio online shop.

Ordering

  1. Select the available portrait option through the online shop.
  2. After ordering, provide the requested reference photograph and information about your pet.
  3. Your order will be added to my working list once payment and the required reference information have been received.

Creating Your Pet Portrait

These are small-format, hand-painted original artworks created in my artistic style from your reference photograph. Because of their size, the amount of detail and complexity that can be included is limited.

Pocket and postcard portraits do not include a preliminary sketch approval unless specifically stated in the product description.

Delivery or Pickup

Completed portraits may be delivered/shipped or picked up according to the options available when ordering.

Custom-size commissions are individually quoted based on the requested size, medium, subject, composition, number of subjects, materials, and complexity.

1. Quote

Send me your idea and reference photograph(s). I will discuss the project with you and provide a quote.

2. Booking & Deposit

A 50% deposit is required to accept the commission and add it to my working list.

The deposit is non-refundable once the commission has been accepted and scheduled, except where required by law or if I am unable to complete the commission.

3. Sketch Review & Approval

For custom-size commissions, I will provide a preliminary sketch for your review before beginning the final painting.

One round of reasonable sketch revisions is included in your quoted price. This is the time to request adjustments to composition, positioning, proportions, or other elements discussed when the commission was booked.

Once you approve the sketch, I will proceed with the final painting.

Requests that substantially change the original commission, such as changing the reference photograph, subject, number of subjects, composition, size, or overall concept, may require a revised quote.

Additional rounds of sketch revisions may also result in an additional fee, which will be discussed with you before further work is completed.

4. Painting

After sketch approval, I will create the final artwork in my established artistic style. Hand-painted artwork is an artistic interpretation rather than an exact reproduction of a photograph.

5. Final Payment

The remaining 50% balance is due when the artwork is completed and must be paid in full before the artwork is shipped, delivered, or released for pickup.

Please provide clear and sharp photographs that show the subject accurately.

By supplying a photograph, you confirm that you have the right or appropriate permission to provide it for use in creating the commissioned artwork.

I may photograph and share completed commissioned artwork as examples of my work, including on my website, portfolio, social media, advertising, and other FMurphy Art Studio promotional materials.

If you would prefer that your commissioned artwork not be shared publicly, please let me know when placing your order or before the artwork is completed. I will respect that request.

I will not intentionally publish personal customer information alongside the artwork without appropriate permission.

Purchasing or commissioning an artwork gives you ownership of the finished physical artwork but does not transfer copyright or commercial reproduction rights.

Copyright in the artwork remains with FMurphy Art Studio unless otherwise agreed in writing.
